Hi all,
I hope your Labor Day weekend was a good one. I have several quick updates to share with you.
First, I recently had the honor of being invited onto the Magatte Wade podcast. I’ve been fortunate to be on several podcasts of late, but this one was different because it was aimed more at the continent of Africa. Born in Senegal and raised in France, Wade has made it her life’s mission to challenge Africans to take charge of their narrative and reject the inferiority stigma. She writes that “Africa’s problems are NOT due to colonialism, corruption, bad leadership, poor skills, or a lack of education. It’s something much bigger…” For more on her thoughts, please check out her book, The Heart of a Cheetah, which I just ordered.
Needless to say, I found our conversation to be enlightening one that took several out-of-the-box turns. Here is her tweet followed by the YouTube link to the podcast.
Second, FAIR, the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism, invited my father and I to do a podcast on September 5 with FAIR President, Monica Harris, and artist Ildi Tillmann. (BTW, Ildi received one of the first artist scholarships from the Shelby Steele Foundation.) We will be covering Ideology in American Education and it’ll be a treat to hear my father’s views on this since he doesn’t speak in public as often as he used to. Here’s the registration link.
Lastly, we will be screening Killing America on September 14 at one of my favorite places: Coronado. Some of you may know, I visited Coronado about three years ago to investigate how the state championship was stripped from the Coronado High School basketball team due to trumped up race charges. (Here’s the article/documentary link.) It will be an honor to return and discuss the new documentary as well as educational issues with the people in town. The panel discussion promises to be a dynamic one so if you are in the area, here is the link to reserve your spot:

We have several more screenings coming up, including one on possible October 7. I will keep you posted.
Thank you for your support as always,
Eli
