Unlike the arrogant ideological man and his illusions of how things should be, the man who lives by the reality principle humbles himself before such a force, and even fears it out of respect.
First of all I pray for the safety of you and your family. And thank you and your mom for the term "The Reality Principle." The term really captures what we need to go on from here and now.
Good morning from NYC and I just finished reading your piece. Then my husband chimes in with the fact that the Democrats are saying that attacking Bass is racist. She is Black but Newsom is white he is being attacked as well for his incompetence. How do they explain that? I guess the concept of “merit” or “qualified” does not exist in their lexicon. I’m rooting for the new administration to turn all this around so that DEI will DIE!
Another excellent post. Like the Lahaina fire the bureaucratic handling of this disaster demonstrates their typical refusal to accept responsibility in favor of blaming everyone but themselves. Tax payers work hard for the taxes they pay and watch as bureaucrats waste their money and fail to respect voters hard work and then ask for more. Voters have a choice and they are living with the consequences. Fire ignores equality, race, and includes everyone.
Eli, this is not really a political discussion at all--it is about the self-destructive psychology of living in denial. It only intrudes on politics when we observe how well the "shoe" you are describing fits the political policies which got us here. For the past several years we were forbidden to notice these things. Not so much anymore.
Mind blowing.
Dear Eli,

Thanks,
randy
Please stay safe, and let the politics of it all be a wake up call to what's really important.
